King County Ombudsman Protects Residents' Rights
The purpose of this website is to help prospective residents their families and friends understand the importance of the long term care ombudsman, resident council and family council in helping you care for your loved one'. Also to help you choose a long term care facility that provides quality care and protects residents' rights.
The King County Ombudsman advocates for protecting residents' rights, quality of life and care in long term care facilities (nursing homes, boarding homes, adult family homes and veterans homes). The regional ombudsman also advocates for family rights, the rights of family is important in the care of residents. The regional ombudsman is supportive of the resident council and family council and protects their rights.
Resident rights are vital to all residents, without rights in long term care facilities there would be more abuse, neglect and poor care. Under the bill of rights every person is entitled to certain rights, whether the person is living in a long term care facility or living at home. Residents' rights are just as powerful and important as the bill of rights; the rights of residents protect their health, safety, and welfare in long term care facilities.
Unfortunately, there is far to much abuse and neglect in long term term care facilities in Washington and for that matter nationwide. The volunteer ombudsman program is looking for volunteer ombudsmen nationwide to protect residents' rights and quality of life and care in long term care facilities. If you would like to volunteer your time to help others, contact your state ombudsman office. Our grandparents, mothers and fathers, uncles and aunts, and brothers and sisters need your help.
