About the King County Long Term Care Ombudsman Program
The King County ombudsmen work to protect residents' rights and improve the quality of life for residents living in nursing homes, boarding homes, adult family homes and veteran's homes.
The program utilizes volunteer ombudsmen who are present in long-term care facilities on a regular basis to talk to residents, listen to their complaints and questions. The long term care ombudsman helps residents understand their rights and to get fair treatment and access to information. The ombudsman works with facility staff, local and state agencies to ensure that residents complaints and concerns are heard and responded to with appropriate action.
The program also helps to establish family and resident councils concerned about the quality of life in long-term care facilities. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer ombudsman, or know of someone living in a long-term care facility that could benefit from an ombudsman's help, please call (206) 623-0816.
The King County Long Term Care Ombudsman Program’s Consumer Advocacy Outreach advances consumer healthcare education and empowers older adults and their family members to make informed long-term care decisions.
